Hong Kong. Personas into a world of unique fragrances

Written by Moellhausen | 12/7/2024

I take the very fast yet luminous crystal elevator, virtually open, and I find myself glancing up, towards the clouds shifted by airstreams.

Looking down while the flooring flees away, I feel myself walking among the roughness of the earth. Mountains, hills, desert, my land beaten by the wind that carries the scent of jasmines.

Every city can take me back to my homeland and perhaps it is because of this nostalgia for return that the towers I draw, the buildings I design, the squares I outline remind me so much of mountains, hills, deserts.

Many years ago I moved away from the silent landscape of my origins, from the confusion of the markets scented with spices, sometimes with oud and incense, close to the great rivers, the Tigris, the Euphrates, in a region whose name was almost magical: Mesopotamia.

Today my panorama is the world, the big cities are my border, the scent I smell most often is the refined elixir of the large hotel lobbies or the one of the resinous rubber covering the university halls where I hold architecture lessons, the reassuring fragrance of the elevators that in an instant, the time of a brief fright, go up to the 80th floor.

And I lull myself by smelling the perfume which emanates from an elegant lady sitting next to me in the lounge of this skyscraper. Innovative, soaring, immense and playful, that is how I imagined it and how I designed it.

I would like to tell her in my mother tongue that is nearly incomprehensible for the people I now live and work with, how this building was born, what it is for, who will come to live or work here. What dreams it will be fitted to evoke.

My native language is so unusual, and yet so ancient and melodious, musical. With those thoughts in my head, I discover myself looking for the scent of jasmine. The flower capable of recalling prophetic dreams. And my mind immerses itself in the dream of the flower, searching for new forms to build, new mountains made also of concrete and glass, where every person could find their own place or their own dream.

Olfactory suggestions by Rita Brena, Perfumer

A fragrance for a woman who is both a memory and a drive towards the future, innovation and love for nature.
She is a woman who goes across the world as wind, of ozone and green notes, but who lets us perceive her warm heart of jasmine, of nostalgia and femininity in rose and vanilla.
And a woman curious about the world and the future, evoked by white musk and amber, as well as steadfast in her history, steeped in incense and sandalwood.
